The sign reads "Evans Wallower Zinc, Inc.
The place: Between Tar Creek and the tracks,
North side of the highway, Cardin, Ok.
Just out of the picture, on the left, is a large two story building, which is still standing today. (Jan-2007)
It was the offices. Later, it was American Lead & Zinc, if memory serves me.
Originally, the Golden Rod Mining and Smelting Corporation, (President - Edgar Wollower,
Vice-President - F. C. Wallower, Superintendent, H. H. Wallower) probably built it.
On the right are maintenance buildings.
Tar Creek covered the highway many times in the '50s, when I was a kid.
