Treva
May Simmons of Commerce, died Sunday, Nov. 1,
2009, at her home after a long illness. She
was 90.
Mrs. Simmons was born June 25, 1919 in
Picher, to Eulys and Annie (Simmons)
Lawrence.
She graduated from Picher High School. She
was a lifetime area resident and a longtime
member of the First Baptist Church in
Commerce. She had worked for Burlington
Garment Manufacturing Company and Miami
Laundry and Dry Cleaners. She was preceded in
death by her husband Clifford Simmons, her
son Larry Simmons and two sisters, Veta Urie
and Lena Shell.
Treva is survived by two daughters, Wanda
Russell and her husband Donald of Commerce,
and Sharon Baker and her husband Russell of
Miami; one son, Bruce Simmons and his wife
Judy of Miami; one brother, Bill Lawrence of
Fort Scott, Kan.; two sisters, Blanch Harlin
of Commerce, and Vonda Shell of Claremore; 13
grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 8
great-great grandchildren.
Services were Tuesday, Nov.r 3, 2009 at at
the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Commerce.
The Rev. Ed McFall and the Rev. Billy Bissel
officiated. Burial was in Williams’
Timberhill Cemetery, east of Welch.
Pallbearers were: Kent Russell, Mark
Russell, Bryan Baker, Dean Simmons, Daniel
Simmons and Joe Treece. |
