Sue
Canady of Columbus, Kan., died Monday,
Oct. 12, 2009, at her home after an
illness. She was 60.
Mrs. Canady was born June 20, 1949, in
Columbus, to Raymond and Marie Esther
(Gilliland) Elliott.
She was employed as a registered nurse
at Integris Baptist Hospital in Miami,
Okla., for 32 years. She was a devoted
and caring nurse. Her home was an open
door to numerous young people who needed
a place to call home. She is loved and
remembered by too many to mention. Her
favorite pastime was riding the Harley
with her husband and the numerous trips
they made together. She was a member of
the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She
married Harold Canady on Nov. 3, 1967.
He survives, of the home. They made
their home in rural Columbus, Ks on her
family farm.
Sue is also survived by son Chad Canady
of Little Rock, Ark.; one brother, Tom
Elliott of Chetopa, Kan.; one sister
Nancy Murdock of Kansas City, Kan., and
two granddaughters, Alyssa and Miranda
Sue Canady, of Little Rock. They were
the love of her life. She is also
survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her
youngest son, Brett Canady; her parents,
and two sisters, Velma Elliott Creger
and Bernice Elliott Butler.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at
Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami. The
Rev. Bob Barker will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery,
northwest of Treece, Kan.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Elliott,
Greg Elliott, Dale Curry, Willard Ross,
Chuck Creger and Jim Gilmore.
