Russell Robert Akin age 55 of Afton, Okla., passed away
Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011. He was born in Picher, Oklahoma on
Feb. 14, 1955 the son of Russell William and Velma Darlene (Vanhoose)
Akin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Loy
Dean Akin.
He is survived by: his daughter, Chyenne Chandler and her
husband Gene of Afton Oklahoma; one son Russell Wayne Akin of
Independence, Kan.; a step-son, Clay Braden of Jacksonville,
Florida. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Riley and Brent
Chandler of Afton, Ivy Henry and Aubrey Taylor of Joplin, Mo.;
three sisters, Delores Dunbar of Vinita, Oklahoma, Dianne Akin
of Grove, Okla. and Shirley Vanhoose and her husband Mearion of
Miami, Oklahoma and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts
and uncles. Funeral services for Russell Robert Akin will be
held 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011 at Paul Thomas Funeral Home
in Miami, with Rev. Ed Mcafee, officiating. Visitation will be
held Monday, Feb. 14, 2011 at the funeral home from 5 to 6 p.m.
Interment will be held in the Baxter Springs Cemetery in Baxter
Springs, Kan. Pallbearers will be Thomas Dunbar, Tomas Wyrick,
Cody Landrum, Scott Johnson, Josh McAfee and Roy Howard.
