Robert Eugene Turner

      Robert Eugene Turner of Bonner Springs Kan,. died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at his home. He was 74.  He was born in Commerce, OK

He grew up in Cardin where he attended grade school and graduated from Picher High School with the class of 1953.  He worked as a carpenter with his father and assisted him in building the north section of Cardin Baptist Church.  In 1962, he was employed by the City of Kansas City, Kan.  He was the foreman of the tree service department until he retired in 1997.  He was baptized at the Cardin Baptist Church in Cardin and was a member of Rehm's Park Southern Baptist Church in Bonner Springs.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years. Ruthie Turner of the home; one daughter, Debbie Hall of the home; one son and his wife, Mike and Vicki Turner of Lawrence, Kan.; three brothers, George Turner of McKinney, Texas. Carl Turner of Monkey Island, OK, and Darrell Turner of Kansas City; four sisters, Lois Dunkerson of Fresno, Calif., Freda Fitzjerrell of Belvidere. N.J., and Mary Smith and Carolyn Hawk. both of Kansas City, and two grandsons, Justin and Mark Turner, both of Lawrence.

      Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Victory Assembly of God Church in Bonner Springs.  Burial will be in Bonner Springs Cemetery.

      The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

      Arrangements are under the direction of Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs.

      Memorials are suggested to the Kansas City Hospice in care of the funeral home.
