Raymond Otis Abernathy, Jr. of Miami, Okla. passed away Wednesday Nov. 6, 2013 at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami. Okla. He was 60.

Mr. Abernathy was born Feb. 5, 1953 in Miami, Okla. to Raymond and Lucille (Woods) Abernathy.

He had lived in the Miami / Picher area all his life. He graduated from Picher High School in 1971 and served two years in the U.S. Army and eight years in the Oklahoma National Guard. He worked at B.F. Goodrich, FAG Bearing in Joplin, Mo. and as a security Guard at area Casinos. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Miami, Okla.

Survivors include son and his wife Lucas Ray and Angela Abernathy of Germany, three sisters Donna Captain of Miami, Okla., Karen Hatfield and husband Bob of Miami, Okla., Drena Linthicum and husband Joe of Miami, Okla., two grandchildren Justin Ray and Emily Marie Abernathy.

Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday Nov. 11, 2013 at the First Assembly of God Church in Miami, Okla. Rev. Raymond Frizzelle and Rev. Charles Clevenger will officiate. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, N.W. of Treece, Kan. Pallbearers will be Rob Hatfield, Matt Hatfield, Steve Hatfield, Chad Hatfield, Michael Linthicum and Jeff Linthicum. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, Okla.
