John L. Smith passed away Thursday July
28, 2011 at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami,
Oklahoma. He was 61.
Mr. Smith was born July 3, 1950 to James Franklin and Doris
(Trammell) Smith in El Dorado, Kansas. He Graduated from Picher
High School in 1968. He was a carpenter. He loved to fish and
enjoyed hunting, antique collecting, which he called treasure
hunting and woodworking. He lived in the Picher area all his
life he was of the Christian Faith.
His Father, one brother James Smith Jr. preceded him in death.
Survivors include: mother, Doris Smith of Commerce, Okla.; son,
James Brewer of Neodesha, Kan.; daughter, Johnna Duplantis and
husband Chad of Claremore, Okla. seven brothers, Dana Smith of
Hutchinson, Kan., Cleo Smith of Wisconsin. Tom Smith of
Commerce, Okla., Jerry Smith of Quapaw, Okla., Larry Smith of
Quapaw, Okla., Wayne Smith of Miami, Okla., Marvin McCulough of
Buffalo, S.C.; three sisters, Martha Livesay of Newton Kan.,
Gail Gorszczyk of McPherson, Kan. and Ruth Renfro of Seneca,
Mo.; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held 10 a.m. Monday August 1, 2011 at Paul Thomas
Funeral Home in Commerce, Oklahoma. Pastor Dr. Ted Estes will
officiate. A private interment followed at Greenlawn
Cemetery north of Treece, Kan.
