Howard Wesley Cawyer

Howard Wesley Cawyer, formerly of Picher, OK passed away Wednesday November 23, 2011 at Clinton Veterans Center in Clinton, OK after an illness. He was 86.

Mr. Cawyer was born October 31, 1925 in Picher, OK to Oscar and Mable (Martin) Cawyer. He had served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and had lived in Picher all of his life. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Picher and the Picher Lions Club. He owned and operated Howard's Beauty Shop in Picher for many years. Mr. Cawyer served as City Clerk for the City of Picher for many years.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers Tom Cawyer, Roy Cawyer, Gene Cawyer and Jason "Spot" Cawyer, and 2 sisters Ruby Cawyer and Ruth Ferris and a sister in law Earlene Cawyer.

Survivors include: brother, Harold Cawyer and wife Myrna of Quapaw, Okla.; brother-in-law Charles Ferris; sister-in-laws Lou Cawyer; several nephews and nieces.

Graveside services will be Monday November 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Ottawa Indian Cemetery, southeast of Miami, OK. Rev. Donnie Williams will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, OK.
