Grace Marie Bruce Kaisner

Grace Marie Bruce Kaisner, age 95, passed away on July 8, 2013 at Quaker Hill Skilled Nursing in Baxter Springs, Kansas.

Grace was born December 3, 1917, in Cardin, Okla. She was the daughter of Chester Hutchens and Nora Cecil Ehrenman Hutchens. Her father passed away when she was a small child and her mother married Louis Daugherty, who raised Grace as his own.

She had two older brothers, Leland and Byron Hutchens, who have since passed away.

At the age of 19, Grace married the late Frank Bruce. She is survived by their 4 children: Francis Secrist, and husband Larry Secrist, of Baxter Springs, KS; Karen Mallatt of Joplin, MO; Stan Bruce, and wife, Sue Lewman Bruce, of Port Duncan, Oklahoma; Jan Bruce, and His wife, Beverly Merrill Bruce, of Galena, KS.

Grace married John Kaisner in 1963, in Commerce, Oklahoma and raised his two children, Randy Kaisner of Richardson, Texas; and Keri Kaisner, of Merietta, Georgia. John passed away in May 18, 2000.

Grace had 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

In her early marriage to Frank, they ran a newspaper in Joplin. Grace ran the Advertisement part of the paper. Grace loved to crochet. She was very good at it and enjoyed making things for the new-born babies. She also enjoyed watching sports, in person or on TV. She attended every game of every sport the boys played throughout their school years. After marrying John, she became an avid fan of Texas Tech (where John graduated from). She had a tapestry of Texas Tech on one wall of her room at Autumn Place, Baxter Springs, KS. She tried to watch every game they played on TV. She didn't miss very many! Grace and John attended Falkner Church after returning to Melrose to run a farm. While Grace lived with Jan and Beverly she attended Cross roads church in Baxter Springs.

Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday July 11, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Riverton, Kansas with Brother Ed Pope officiating. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home. She has been entrusted to Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, Okla. for cremation and will be buried with her mother, Nora Eherenman in G.A.R. Cemetery, Miami, Oklahoma at a later date.
