Edwin Ray Williams, Sr., age 67 of Commerce, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord July 11, 2012, at his home he shared with his bride of 43 years. He was born on January 10, 1945 in Jay, Oklahoma the son of Andrew & Omie (Reeves) Williams.

He graduated from Picher High School in 1963. He lived in Picher, Oklahoma until his enlistment in the United States Navy where he served as a submariner working as a diesel mechanic on the USS Caiman from 1967 to 1970. On September 23, 1968, he married Sharron Sue Stockstill at the Methodist Church in Picher, Oklahoma during a leave from the Navy. After his discharge, he was employed by Santa Fe Railroad where he held numerous positions during his 37 years of employment. Ed and his family lived in several locations while Ed furthered his career with Santa Fe. He retired in 2004 and moved to Commerce that same year. He found great enjoyment in spoiling his granddaughters daily.

He attended Commerce Community Church in Commerce, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Alfred Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Sharron of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Heather Williams, Jr. and a daughter Kathleen Williams all of Commerce, Oklahoma. He put stars in the eyes of his granddaughters, Lynsey and Peyton Williams. He was also a big brother to his surviving siblings, Rollie Williams and his wife Anne of Quapaw, Oklahoma, Anna V. Sayers of Commerce, Oklahoma, James Williams of Bluejacket, Oklahoma, Joyce Frazier and her husband, Gene of Wyandotte, Oklahoma and Tommy Williams and his wife, Linda of Miami, Oklahoma and many nieces, nephews and cousins and many friends.

Funeral services for Edwin Ray Williams, Sr. will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Commerce, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be held in the G.A.R. Cemetery, Miami.
