She was born June 14, 1930, to Floyd and Lucymae (Duggan) Steele, in Picher, Okla.

Betty was united in marriage April 22, 1949, to Lauren E. "Junior" Johnson. He preceded her in death July 4, 2008.

She was a 66-year member of the First Baptist Church, of Picher. She was formerly employed by the Picher School District as a secretary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, son Gregg and daughter Lee Ann.

She is survived by son, Michael and wife, Sally, of Joplin, Mo.; a sister, Jo Leonard, of Webb City, MO;  two grandchildren, Brian Johnson and Amanda Pattyson; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery, northwest of  Treece, Kan. Rev. Bob Wilson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday before the services at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel, in Miami.
