Betty Jean Blount of Joplin, MO passed away Thursday April 19, 2012 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO. She was 82.

Mrs. Blount was born December 6, 1929 in Picher, OK to Harold Eugene and Cora May (Sumners) Horine. She had lived in Joplin for 6 years moving from Miami. She worked as an accountant for B.F. Goodrich in Miami and was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Joplin, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband Julian Blount on October 24, 2004, a brother, Kenneth Horine and a sister, Kathryn Horine.

She is survived by her Sister Cora Mae McCullah of Baxter Springs, KS and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be Monday April 23, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, OK. Rev. Gerald Dyer will officiate. Interment will be in Big Cabin Cemetery in Big Cabin, OK. Pallbearers will be Doug Bayliss, Matthew Bayliss, Chuck Smith, Cory Smith, Jon Horine and Bill Duffield. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home.
