Velma Patton of Miami, Okla. passed away Sunday,
Aug. 14, 2016 at her home.
She was 90.
Velma was born Nov. 30, 1925 in Cardin, Okla. to
Albert and Elsie (Fessler) VonMoss, Sr. She was a lifetime
resident of Cardin, Commerce and Miami. In her younger years
she and her siblings Albert and Freda owned and operated a
grocery store in Cardin, OK. She later worked for Glen Berry
Mfg. in Commerce and was a volunteer for Integris Baptist
Region Hospital in Miami. Velma was a member of First
Baptist Church in Commerce for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Dee
Patton in 2010, two sons, Jay Dee Patton, Jr. and William
“Bill” Patton, her parents, her siblings, Edward VonMoss,
Albert VonMoss, Jr., Freda Smith, Fred VonMoss, Sr., Donald
Von Moss and Dorothy VonMoss.
Survivors include her sons, David Lee Patton and
wife Melissa and John A. Patton all of Miami, Okla., two
step-daughters, Jaylene Benedict and Julie Patton of Ohio,
eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10
a.m. Friday, August 19, 2016 at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in
Commerce, Okla. Rev. Bill Bissell will officiate. Interment
will be in G.A.R. Cemetery of Miami with Kevin Patton, Tyler
Patton, Bob Urie, Brian Patton, Eric Luthi and Mike Ellison
serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends
