Jay
Dee Patton of Commerce died Wednesday,
Jan. 20, 2010, at
Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo., after
an illness. He was 84.
Mr. Patton was born Dec. 19, 1925, in
Wyandotte to John Winfield
and Callie (Roark) Patton.
He was a veteran of the Army. He worked
in the mines in Picher and surrounding
areas before joining B.F. Goodrich and
retired in 1985.
He married Velma VonMoss on Sept. 9,
1950, in Cardin. She survives,
of the home.
Additional survivors include three sons
and their wives, William D. Patton
of Joplin, David Lee and Melissa Patton
of Commerce and John Amos and wife Tracy
Patton of Miami; two daughters, Jalene
Benedict and her husband Jerry and Julie
A. Patton, all of Miami; one brother,
Henry Patton of Miami; one sister, Marie
Marlow of Wyandotte; eight grandchildren
and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Jay
Dee Patton Jr.; three brothers
and three sisters.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Paul
Thomas Funeral Home in Commerce.
The Rev. Bill Bissell and the Rev. Jerry
Von Moss will officiate.
Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in
Miami.
The American Legion Post No. 147 Funeral
Detail will conduct military honors.
