"J.C." James Carl Burggraf, of Quapaw, Okla., passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Integris Baptist Regional Hospital in Miami.  He was 85.

Mr. Burggraf was born Jan. 2, 1927, in Picher, Okla., to Ed and Lola (Hodge) Burggraf. He lived in Quapaw most of his life and was a bus driver for Northeast Oklahoma Vo Tech for Quapaw Schools and was a truck driver for Yellow Freight Co. in Baxter Springs, Kan. He was assistant fire chief for Quapaw Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Quapaw Alumni Association, First United Methodist Church, of Quapaw,  Miami Lodge No. 140 AF&AM, Miami Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Past Worshipful Master Ottawa Lodge No. 492 Quapaw, Tulsa Scottish Rite.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence Burggraf, Jerry Burggraf and Tim Key; and a sister, Pat Els.

He married Martha Jean Randall May 14, 1946, in Baxter Springs. She survives of the home.

Also surviving is a son, Randy Burggraf, of Wetumka, Okla.; a daughter, Sandy Burggraf, of Tulsa, Okla.; an adopted daughter, Donna Sunday; two brothers, Larry Burggraf, of Prairie Village, Kan., and Jim Key, of Sacramento, Calif.; and four sisters, Doris Brewer, of Tulsa, Bonnie Anderson, of Galena, Kan., Carlene Trout, of Farmington, N.M., and Carol Jones, of Springfield, Mo.

Funeral service were Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami. Rev. Furan Jackson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jack Buttram, Jimmy Buttram, Gus Burggraf, Larry Kelley, Phillip Burggraf and Eric Burggraf. Honorary pallbearers will be Dabney Smith, Joe Smith, Marshall Smith, Pat Harryman, Jerry Buttram and Johnny Buttram. Interment will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami. Masonic Rites will be conducted by Miami Lodge No. 140 AF&AM.
