Evelyn Patricia Shuck

Evelyn Patricia Shuck was born in Oklahoma City, Okla.

She was adopted and raised by Lovell P and Ida Mae Elliott of Choctaw, Okla.

She worked at Tinker Field repairing and installing precision guidance equipment during WWII. She married LeRoy Eugene Shuck who proceeded her in death in 1987. They moved to Picher, Okla. in 1945. She remained in Picher, except for the three-year period in the late 1950s when LeRoy was stationed in Nurnberg, Germany.

She watched Picher go from its boom days in the late 1940s, to the buyout in 2008. She saw the rise and fall of the Picher mining field and the slow decline of Picher thereafter. She ended her days in Commerce, close to her daughter and youngest sun.

She has touched many lives in her time, was active in her community, and was a long time reporter for the Tri-State Tribune. One of her greatest joys was working as a "granny" with the children in the Quapaw Elementary School.

She is survived by all three of her children, Edward (Eddie) of San Francisco, CA), Betty Jean (Nokie) Berry of Commerce, and Clark Leroy (Mike) of Quapaw; as well as three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
