David Lee Townsend
David Lee Townsend of Miami died Friday,
March 16, 2007, in Miami.He was 73.
David was born Dec. 28, 1933, in Cardin to Julius Paul
and Francis (Elliot)
Townsend. He lived in Miami for a
year, moving from Parsons, Kan.
He was a Korean War veteran of the Marines.
He worked in road construction. He was a member of the
First Baptist Church in Quapaw.
He served on the school board in Quapaw.
He was a post commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in
Parsons and of the
Disabled American Veterans in Commerce.
Survivors include one son, Ron Townsend of Quapaw,
two daughters, Cindy Stewart
of Destin, Fla., and Natalea
Hile of Duncan; his mother, of Miami; one sister,
Mary Autry of Quapaw; one brother. Dick Townsend
of Tulsa, seven grandchildren
and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were at Paul Thomas Funeral Home
in Picher
with the Rev. Dale Neal officiating.
Military rites were conducted by the
Baxter Springs, Kan. Post
